What type of tooth whitener is used with the
Zoom! Teeth whitening?
The Zoom! Whitening system uses a hydrogen
peroxide-based tooth whitener. This product
comes prepackaged as two individual
components, a 32% hydrogen peroxide gel and
a proprietary "activator". These two
components are then mixed at the time of
application to form a working gel that has a
25% concentration of hydrogen peroxide and
PH between 7.5 and 8.5.

Some patients experience temporary tooth
sensitivity to hot and cold. This is usually
occurs in the first week and cease to exist
when you are not whitening your mouth.

Does the Zoom! Bleaching light produce a
heating effect on the teeth being whitened?
The zoom! Light unit has an infrared filter.
This is significant because filtering
infrared emissions helps to minimize the
amount of heat generated at the surface of
the teeth during the whitening.

How long does it take to perform a Zoom!
In-office teeth whitening system treatment?
Each bleaching session is divided into three
individual applications of the zoom! teeth
whitener, with the duration of each
application being 15 minutes. This means
that the cumulative exposure of the
patient's teeth to the Zoom! Teeth whitening
gel is 60 minutes. Pre and post treatment
preparations and activities round the total
treatment time up to about minutes.

Is whitening for me?
Whitening produce results in over ninety
percent of patients. Different factors will
affect the process, and some people are
better candidates than others. In general,
yellow and light brown teeth, stained over a
period of years make excellent candidates,
while darker brown or grayish stains require
other cosmetic procedures.

Does whitening lighten my crown or fillings?
if not, how do you do that?
Whitening will not lighten artificial
material in your mouth like composite
fillings, veneers and crowns. If you want to
have a filling or crown, I recommend you to
whiten your teeth at first and then wait
about two weeks and have the filling
re-surfaced or re-done to match your new
white color. The filling won't whiten and
you need to wait a couple of weeks after
finishing the whitening before doing the
fillings, because it takes a little while
for the color to stabilize after whitening.

Is tooth whitening safe?
The American Dental Association has approved
whitening procedures, if done under
supervision an expert dentist, and clinical
trials and studies have found them to be
safe and effective. Most people suffer no
side effects from whitening treatments, but
some sensitivity to hot and cold is
possible. This typically lasts for than 48
hours.

What are the different whitening options?
Two types of bleaching are offered by AIAD
clinic, in-office bleaching which sometimes
called laser or power bleaching and at-home
whitening kits. The difference between the
techniques involves strength of the
whitening gel and the length of time it
remains in contact with the teeth.

My teeth are sensitive, what can I do?
There are 4 things that can be done to help
eliminate sensitivity that is caused by
whitening your teeth. First, wear the
whitener for a shorter period. Second, brush
your teeth with sensodyne toothpaste. Third,
rinse your mouth with fluoride mouthwash
twice daily. Fourth, stop whitening your
teeth for a couple of days so your teeth can
adapt to the whitening process. Within 24
hours of whitening your teeth, the
sensitivity will cease.
